Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Andrew Mwenda and Museveni
Veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda has claimed that first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba was surprised by the show of support from Ugandans, suggesting that the supporters of the so-called Muhoozi Project will actually shock Ugandans.
On April 23, Kainerugaba held a birthday party at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala.
At the party, Lt Gen Kainerugaba, also the Commander of UPDF Land Forces, unveilled his plan for Ugandan youth. (Read Story Here).
Earlier, Muhoozi had addressed those who participated in a marathon to honor him. The first son said the country was on fire because of him. (Read Story Here).
On April 24, President Museveni held a State House dinner to honour his son Muhoozi. (See Photos from Muhoozi Dinner HERE).
It is these events and the support exhibited for the first son that Mwenda says left Muhoozi surprised.
A sworn-supporter of Muhoozi, Mwenda says the Muhoozi Project is not being promoted by the first son.
“The Muhoozi Project is a grassroots movement. It is not promoted by Muhoozi,” said Mwenda during NBS Frontline.
“I can tell you comfortably that even Muhoozi himself is surprised by the support.”
He went on to claim that opposition politicians are clearly making Kainerugaba more famous among Ugandans.
“People may not know that the people in the Opposition speaking about the ‘Muhoozi Project’ are the ones promoting it,” claimed Mwenda.
This claim is consistent with Kainerugaba’s previous admission.
According to Muhoozi, he was never interested in power but ‘Muhoozi Project’ claims by Gen David Sejusa and other haters reportedly made Ugandans love him. (Read Story Here).

Also attending the birthday dinner was Rwandan President Paul Kagame.
