A former commander of Uganda’s national army, the UPDF, has told first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba to be ready to make reforms within the current government system if he wants to become president through a presidential election.
For many people, Lt Gen Kainerugaba’s recent 48th birthday celebrations pointed to a presidential bid.
On April 23, Kainerugaba held a birthday party at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala.
At the party, Lt Gen Kainerugaba, also the Commander of UPDF Land Forces, unveiled his plan for Ugandan youth. (Read Story Here).
Earlier, Muhoozi had addressed those who participated in a marathon to honor him. The first son said the country was on fire because of him. (Read Story Here).
On April 24, President Museveni held a State House dinner to honour his son Muhoozi. (See Photos from Muhoozi Dinner HERE).
At the State House dinner was President Paul Kagame of Rwanda.

According to Maj Gen (Rtd) Gregg Mugisha Muntu, a former UPDF Commander, Lt Gen Kainerugaba must be ready to annoy the current government system, including his father, if he is serious about becoming president.
“If Muhoozi wants to win the presidency because of popularity, he would have designed a different strategy,” said Muntu, the leader of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) in a recent media interview.
“He would have projected himself as a reformer even if it means that he could end up at loggerheads with the system including his father.”
In Muntu’s view, Muhoozi must project himself as one opposed to Museveni’s micro-management style of leadership and manipulation.
“Gen Museveni is a micro-manager. What happens in the executive lies on him as a person. Micromanagers are incapable of delegation. Systems under them cannot grow, institutions become weak and create a state of fear,” noted Maj Gen Muntu.
“We have a strong willed and manipulative head of state who has deliberately eroded the parliament and the judiciary. There is no way he would achieve that unless a significant number of people in those two branches were not compliant.”
Muntu has also been vocal in telling Museveni to allow Muhoozi to retire from the army to pursue his rumored presidential interests. (Read Story Here).
