Buganda Kingdom monarch kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s press secretary says enemies of the cultural institution are using the king’s sickness to destroy the kingdom and bring down its prime minister Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga.
Kabaka Mutebi II appeared for his 66th birthday sick and frail, raising concerns about his health.
Days later, Katikkiro Mayiga told the kingdom the Kabaka was suffering from allergies.

Mayiga also dismissed reports that the Kabaka was poisoned.

But even after the prime Minister’s statement, some people have continued spreading conspiracy theories about the Kabaka’s health.
Now, the king’s press secretary has revealed the monarchy’s enemies could be using the Kabaka’s health condition to destroy the kingdom.
“The falsehoods and malicious allegations are being instigated and spread by people who claim to love and be concerned about the Kabaka, whereas they are not,” said Kasolo.
“In fact there is a clear and discernible plot by those enemies of Buganda to use this opportunity to weaken the Kingdom by creating rifts amongst the people of Buganda and undermining the Kabaka’s officials, especially the Katikkiro, Charles Peter Mayiga and other Kabaka’s strong supporters.”
The king’s spokesperson urged subjects to stop aiding Buganda’s enemies whom he was confident would not succeed.
“Do not lend a hand to the enemies of Buganda and Uganda by spreading false information which is intended to cause fear, alarm and undue excitement,” he continued.
“The effort to weaken the Kingdom shall not succeed. The disguised, concern for the Kingdom should not deceive anyone.”
