Award-winning Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo was one of the artistes arrested following a Boxing Day concert at the Tanzanian side of the Mutukula border.
Music concerts and shows remain banned in Uganda over Covid19.
It was because of this restriction that some singers such as Eddy Kenzo, Ray G, Nina Roz, Mathias Walukagga and Kabako decided to perform at a show organized in Mutukula.
The ‘Ebisenge Bikalubye’ show, which was organized by Abitex Promotions, went on smoothly at Happiness Hotel.
But when it ended, Kenzo and his fellow singers were arrested.
Before they were allowed to return to their homes, all the singers were required to take Covid19 tests.
Each of the singers was ordered to pay for his or her Covid19 test.
Each test was Shs90,000.
After almost two years of a ban on concerts and shows, Ugandan singers are hoping that the new Omicron variant doesn’t make President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni announce another lockdown.
