Celebrated Ugandan singer Edirisa Musuuza aka Eddy Kenzo says he is saddened by the demise of Sheikh Nuuhu Muzaata but has praised God for helping him reconcile with the religious leader before he breathed his last.
Muzaata, the head of Da’awa at the Kibuli faction passed on December 04 at the International Hospital Kampala (IHK).
He had been ill in recent weeks.
Eddy Kenzo was one of the people Muzaata attacked.
In October 2019, while speaking at a marriage event for Kenzo’s ex-lover Rema Namakula and her new man Hamza Ssebunya, Muzaata labelled the BET award winner a ‘semyekozo’ and ‘love nigga.’
‘Semyekozo’ and ‘love nigga,’ connoting ‘play boy’ characters, form part of the lyrics in ‘Gutujja’ a song Rema put together in a collabo with B2C.
In response to Muzaata’s attacks, Eddy Kenzo turned the lemon thrown at him to make lemonade – and thus came up with ‘Semyekozo’ song.
He even vowed to camp outside Kibuli Mosque until Muzaata had apologized to him.
“You have attacked and humiliated me in front of my daughter (Amaal Musuuza). I don’t think that was her good day and she will never forget you. Thank you Sheik Muzaata, Allah will be our judge on the final day, God willing,” Kenzo had fumed.
Barely two months before he died Muzaata had met Kenzo at an event in Masaka.
“I am happy to see you sir. This is my first time to shake hands with you ever since what happened to me as you all know but glory be to God. We are Muslims. I love you very much, sir,” Kenzo said to Muzaata.
The cleric also sounded apologetic.
Now, when news of Muzaata’s death broke, Kenzo rushed to mourn him, and hailed the reconciliation reached before the vocal cleric’s death.
“Truly, to Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return. It is sad we have lost Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata. I ask God to comfort his family and all Ugandans,” Kenzo said.
“I thank God who enabled me to meet him and reconcile with him. R.I.P sheikh, until we meet again.”
