Uganda Police Force (UPF) says it is actively hunting for a woman who reportedly injected her co-wife with a poisonous substance that ended her life.
According to UPF spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga, the Territorial Police in Kyotera is actively searching for a one Jackie Namubiru, of Lwanzi B cell, Mutukula Town Council in Kyotera District, following allegations that she brutally attacked her co-wife Lydia Nakimera.
It is said that Namubiru attacked Nakimera, aged 23, a salon owner, at around 4pm on April 20, 2023.
The suspect is accused of injecting Nakimera with a syringe which is said to have been containing suspected poisonous substances.
Namubiru took off and went into hiding after injecting her co-wife. The victim was first rushed to Bulamu Clinic, from where she was referred to Byansi’s Clinic in Masaka City in critical condition.
She was later pronounced dead at about 6:30pm on April 23, 2023. Her death has been attributed to the poisonous substances that Namubiru injected in her body.
Police has condemned the act and called for peaceful resolution to disputes.
“We strongly condemn such acts of violence against rivals in relationships. Jealous behaviours can be destructive like in this vey aspect, yet the Family Protection Units have mechanisms in place of resolving family disputes. A serious hunt for the suspect is ongoing,” said Enanga.
