Joint counter-terror teams say they have intercepted at least 13 Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebel recruits destined for terror camps in the DR Congo.
The 13 were intercepted in an operation in Ntoroko District.
According to police spokesperson Fred Enanga, the 13 suspected rebel recruits include seven adults and six juveniles.
Enanga has named the arrested recruits as Edith Kahindo, aged 34, from Nyabusokoma, Karugutu; Shakira Munubi, aged 26, from Karugutu; Musa Abdallah Ayebare, aged 26, from Gangu, Wakiso; Mariam Ainembabazi, aged 21, from Karugutu; Tahad Seluwu, aged 23 and Fahad Seluwu, aged 21 from Katale, Kajjansi.
Others were: Sumaya Nassanga, aged 18, from Kasana Luweero; Imran Ssesanga, aged 12 from Kasana Luweero; Ayibi Kikomeko, aged 9 from Kasana Luweero; Muhaiminu Natukunda, aged 8 from Karugutu.
“Also included are three children aged 5, 18 months and a one month old,” added Enanga.
