Assessment body Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) and officials from First Lady Janet Kataaha Kainembabazi Museveni’s Ministry of Education and Sports will release results from the 2022 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) this Friday, Dr Joyce Moriku Kaducu, the State Minister for Primary Education, has confirmed.
The confirmation by the junior minister, the first most senior official, to reveal the date of the release of the PLE results will come as a sigh of relief to parents, schools and candidates whose anxiety levels had shot up as the results delayed for a few more days than they were expected.
While Uneb executive secretary and director Dan Odongo had told Parliament’s committee on education that the results would be out last week, no results were released, making parents, candidates and teachers more anxious.
But as reliable sources told The Pearl Times at the end of last week, the results are expected this week. The issue of the release date remained unclear until Minister Moriku revealed that the examination results for hundreds of thousands of candidates would be out this Friday, January 27, 2023, and apologized for the delay.
While the marking of examination papers and compilation of results was concluded weeks ago, Uneb officials are required to brief the minister of education and other ministry officials on the performance before the results are released. This, apparently, is what had delayed the results.
But as The Pearl Times has reported, Uneb officials are meeting first lady and education minister Janet Museveni to brief her and other top officials on how the 832,810 candidates from 14,153 examination centers performed in the four examinable papers — English, Mathematics, Integrated Science and Social Studies — which they sat on November 08 and 09, 2022.
