Assessment body Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) has confirmed UCE 2023 results release date, ending weeks of speculation on when parents, guardians, teachers and candidates should expect the results to be out.
According to Uneb a total of 349, 459 candidates sat for the 2023 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations compared to 364, 467 in 2022. Passing these examinations mean that one has completed their O-level or Senior Four. For these candidates, that will depend on UCE 2023 results.
Uneb, whose executive director is Dan N Odongo, has confirmed the UCE 2023 results release date after meeting Janet Kataaha Museveni, the education minister and Ugandan first lady in Kampala on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
“The Minister for Education and Sports Mama Janet K. Museveni has confirmed that she will release the UCE 2023 results tomorrow, Thursday, February 15th, starting at 11:00am. Venue is State House, Nakasero,” Uneb confirmed in a statement
“The release of #UCE2023 follows a briefing session by UNEB to the Minister this morning.”
During the release of UCE 2023 results, Uneb is also expected to offer details on special transitional exams for S4 repeaters as the country moves to competence based assessment this year.
“The 2023 candidates were the last cohort of learners that sat for the UCE examination under the old curriculum. During tomorrow’s release, UNEB will announce arrangements to facilitate the smooth transition from the old to the new curriculum,” Uneb noted.
Uneb recently released a provisional program for special transition examinatuons for S4 repeaters. (Read Story Here).
Uneb is also expected to give an explanation on allegations over its grading system after some parents claimed to have gained access to leaked marked papers for their children. (See Details Here).
