Officials of assessment body Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) are expected to release results from the 2023 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) after securing an appointment with first lady, also education and sports minister, Janet Kataaha Kainembabazi Museveni.
Days ago, Uneb spokesperson Jennifer Kalule revealed that while the PLE 2023 results were ready for releasing, the assessment body was yet to secure an appointment with Janet Museveni. (Read Details Here).
Over the years, the release of PLE results and results for other national examinations follow the briefing of the education minister by Uneb officials on candidates’ and districts’ performance.
Up to 749,347 candidates – comprising 391,558 females and 357,789 males – parents and teachers were expecting Uneb and the education ministry to release PLE results this week. But that has not been possible.
Now, The Pearl Times understands that the office of the first lady and minister of education and sports has confirmed that Janet Museveni will be available to receive and hear from Uneb officials for a briefing on candidates’ performance in 2023 PLE.
According to a January 17 communication from Irene Kauma, a senior personal assistant to Janet Museveni, while a January 12 memo had indicated that the briefing and the release of PLE 2023 results was supposed to happen on January 17 and 18, respectively, at State House Nakasero, the two events have now been rescheduled.
This publication also understands that Uneb will brief Minister Janet Museveni on the performance as posted in PLE 2023 results at 11am on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at State House Nakasero.
Uneb and the education ministry will then release PLE 2023 results at 11am on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at State House Nakasero in the capital Kampala.
The office of the minister of education and sports has also instructed invited guests hoping to attend the briefing by Uneb and the release of PLE 2023 results to take Covid19 tests on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Mulago Platinum Centre from 9am to 3pm.
First lady and education minister Janet Museveni recently went into isolation after contracting Covid19. She has since recovered. (See Details Here and There).
