CONFIRMED! New Salary Structure Reveals It’s NOT ONLY Scientists Whose Salaries Have Been Increased Starting This Month

Museveni Government Plans to Pay Each Science Teacher Shs8m Per Month Museveni Government Promises Free University Education for Arts Teachers' Children IT IS TOO LATE: Public Service Minister Promises Arts Teachers Salary Increment in 2026 LIST: See Names of Ugandans Shortlisted for Juicy Jobs at Finance, Public Service Ministries Public Service Minister Speaks on Salary Increment as Heated Debate on Discriminatory Pay Raise Rages on

Public Service Minister Muruli Mukasa

Despite President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s insistence that only scientists would get a pay raise in the current Financial Year 2022-2023, the recently released salary structure reveals a category of non-scientists has been included on the list of those who will enjoy a salary increment starting July 2022.

When secondary school arts teachers under the Uganda National Teachers’ Union (Unatu) and local government employees under the Uganda Local Government Workers Union (Ulgwu) demanded salary increment, the Ministry of Public Service, the Ministry of Education and Sports and President Museveni himself made it clear that only salaries of scientists would be prioritized.

Left with no option since Museveni had stuck to his guns, Unatu and Ulgwu leaders decided to end their industrial actions and return to work.

While they were still trying to come to terms with government’s insistence on not increasing their salaries, these two groups of government employees from the humanities field learnt that senior officers of the national army, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) had had their salaries raised significantly.

In fact, Gen Museveni has assured the UPDF officers of their huge salary increment, making it clear that nobody would stop his senior soldiers’ salary raise. (Read Story Here).

By the time Museveni was assuring senior UPDF officers of salary increment, Public Service Ministry Permanent Secretary Catherine Bitarakwate Musingwiire had already issued a circular confirming the salary increments that would be effected in the financial year that began at the end July 2022.

This publication has also seen the new salary structure which includes government employees who are not scientists but have been given a pay increment.

Alongside health professionals, health tutors, scientists in mainstream public service, secondary school or post-primary teachers of science, laboratory assistants and laboratory technicians in secondary or post primary schools; as well as lecturers, tutors and instructors of sciences in Business, Technical and Vocational Education Training (Btvet) institutions, prosecutors and other legal professionals under Jane Frances Abodo’s Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) have been included on the list of government employees who will get huge salary increments this year. (See the Juicy Salary Increments Different Employees in the Directorate of Public Prosecutions – DPP have been given Here).

With DPP officers and UPDF officers getting salary increment, the narrative and official position by government that only scientists would have their salaries enhanced seems to have somehow changed to cater for some exceptions — the ‘security scientists’ and ‘legal scientists.’

The Freshly Released Full Salary Structure for All Government Employees or Public Servants for the 2022-2023 Financial Year is HERE.
