COME OUT AND FACE ME: Minister Anite Dares Her Enemies after Whistleblower’s Shocking Allegations

State Minister for Investment and Privatization has dared her enemies to come out of their bunkers and face her instead of them reportedly hiding behind a whistleblower.

The whistleblower, Donozio Opolot, has petitioned State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU), calling for an investigation into Minister Anite over alleged conflict of interest and corruption.

Opolot accuses Minister Anite of “noticeable and apparent corruption, unscrupulous behaviour and influence peddling” as well as “crude accumulation of wealth through stealing of government money.”

The whistleblower also makes very serious allegations on extortion as well as on the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) Board – the politics of whose dissolution also formed a significant part of his petition to Brig Gen Henry Isoke of SH-ACU.

“Hon. Anite has been issuing letters asking to allocate land where she has obtained money from the companies. The Board she dissolved got tired of her unscrupulous behaviour and refused to honor her requests which is the reason why she decided to illegally terminate their tenure, when they still have running contracts in favor of the new purported Board which she personally selected and instructed to use for her extortions that she conducts in Protea Hotel room in Kololo,” Opolot alleged.

The Pearl Times could not independently verify these and more claims in Opolot’s 22-page petition. It also remains to be seen if Brig Gen Isoke will take up the petition and investigate Minister Anite.

ANITE DARES HER ENEMIES

Minister Anite has told off her enemies for reportedly hiding behind Opolot, a whistleblower, instead of saying whatever they wish to say to her face. She has dared them to a face-off.

“To my enemies, if you’ve got something to say, say it to my face, don’t call yourself a whistleblower, come, let’s face off,” Minister Anite wrote.

It is, perhaps, the politics around UIA’s board and the controversial service award that several officials at the investment authority paid themselves that Minister Anite could anchor her fight. Days before the whistleblower wrote to State House’s Anti-Corruption Unit, Minister Anite said her heart bleeds because thieves at UIA are being protected. The shocking allegations against Minister Anite include UIA payments to her hotel.
