An April 27 morning fire has burnt the office of Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo at the Supreme Court building in Kololo, Kampala.
The morning fire is said to have started in the Chief Justice’s chambers on the third floor.
It reportedly broke out at a few minutes after 10am.
The cause of the fire was yet to be established.
But key documents are believed to have been burnt.
The building has been closed to the public and staff evacuated.
CJ Owiny-Dollo was not in the building when the fire started.
But some justices of the Supreme Court, including former DPP Mike Chibita and Eldard Mwangusya, were in the building.
Officers from the Fire and Rescue Services and Counter-Terrorism Police rushed to the building to handle the situation.
The fire outbreak in Owiny-Dollo’s office comes days after the attempted assassination of Principal Judge Dr Flavian Zeija. (Read Story Here).
