Third year Pharmacy student Shamim Nambassa has been declared the winner of Makerere University’s students’ guild presidential election.
The election was held November 12.
Nambassa, who ran under the slogan ‘vaccinate the junta with wee-wee,’ will now become the 87th guild president.
She was a candidate for singer-turned-politician Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP).
Bobi Wine, who is struggling with a court case over his alleged irregular admission to Makerere University in 2000, has congratulated Nambassa.
“Once again MAKERERE has spoken unequivocally,” said Bobi Wine.
“Ladies and gentlemen, behold the 87th Guild President of Makerere University. Congratulations Shamim Nambassa. Congratulations National Unity Platform. Congratulations Uganda. Aluta continua.”
“Congratulations Comrade Shamim Nambassa on your well deserved victory!” wrote NUP party in a statement.
“Seeing many young Ugandans continuing to identify with our message only confirms that ours is a JUST cause. Indeed, this is a generational cause.”
