The Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the ruling NRM party has endorsed Government Chief Whip Thomas Tayebwa as the candidate for the deputy speaker job.
Tayebwa was unopposed after those that wanted to stand against him such as Kitgum Woman MP Lillian Aber, pulled out of the race.
Tayebwa, the Ruhinda North MP, has also been endorsed the parliamentary caucus. Caucus also endorsed Anita Among for speaker.
The Government chief whip expressed interest on March 23 after NRM CEC endorsed Anita Among for the speakership, leaving the position of deputy speaker vacant. (Read Story Here).
