Main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) has broached the issue of its president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine’s monthly salary after some people raised questions on the principal’s pay.

Some people had gone ahead to claim that NUP pays its leader Bobi Wine a monthly salary of Shs100m. One social media user had made claims about “the unjustifiable salary of [Shs]100m paid to Hon. Kyagulanyi every month.”

But NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya dismissed the claim as “fake,” false and misleading.

Rubongoya confirmed that while Bobi Wine gets some money from NUP, it is not termed a monthly salary but rather a “facilitation allowance.”

After dismissing Bobi Wine’s monthly salary claim, he went ahead to reveal that the principal’s “facilitation allowance” was not as fat as Shs100m being alleged.

“No. Hon. Kyagulanyi does not earn 100m per month. In fact, what he gets as facilitation allowance for his work is lower than what he earned as a Member of Parliament,” noted NUP SG Rubongoya.

But Rubongoya did not reveal exactly how much Bobi Wine gets from NUP as facilitation allowance.

Bobi Wine served as Kyadondo East MP from 2017 to 2021. (See How Much Ugandan MPs earn Here).

The scrutiny of Bobi Wine’s NUP comes at a time when Commissioner Mathias Mpuuga refused to resign over a Shs500m corruption scandal. Bobi Wine has given his 10 reasons why Mpuuga must resign. (See Details Here and There).
