Bobi Wine’s Envoys Fail to Find Lumbuye in Turkey, NUP Wants Court to Produce Blogger Dead or Alive

Lawyer and Kyadondo East MP Muwada Nkunyingi has failed to trace National Unity Platform (NUP) Turkey-based blogger Fred Kajubi Lumbuye after days of searching detention centers, prompting the party to rush to the High Court.

Nkunyingi, also the shadow foreign affairs minister, has teamed up with lawyers in Turkey to search for Lumbuye in major detention centers, after NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine tasked him to ensure the release of one of the party’s most vicious diaspora propagandists.

Back in Kampala, NUP has directed its lawyers to demand the production of Lumbuye, dead or alive, in court.

According to junior minister for international affairs Henry Okello Oryem, Kampala expected Turkey to deport Lumbuye to Uganda on August 07.

Authorities in Istanbul had arrested the blogger after President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni ordered that relevant Ugandan authorities arrest those who claimed he had died.

Lumbuye is wanted for, among other reasons, claiming that President Museveni had died.

According to police spokesperson Fred Enanga, Lumbuye faces over 15 charges.

But the law and enforcement agency has made it clear the cyber bully is not in their custody.

Now, lawyers led by Geoffrey Turyamusiima have argued that the fact that Minister Oryem assured the country that Turkey would deport Lumbuye means that he knows the blogger’s whereabouts.

Turyamusiima has told the High Court in Kampala that on August 07, the date Oryem had said Lumbuye would return home, security agencies has cordoned off the Entebbe International Airport, and that he could have been whisked away and taken into detention since his lawyers and NUP enthusiasts had been denied access to the airport.

That they had searched for Lumbuye in gazetted Ugandan and Turkish detention centers but had not found the ‘fake news monger.’

Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka is one of the respondents and is expected to file his response.

The case is before High Court Civil Division head Justice Musa Ssekaana
