Bobi Wine Reportedly Apologizes to Acholi Cultural Leaders Over Jacob Oulanyah Protests

NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine reportedly apologized to the Acholi Cultural Institution on behalf of his supporters who protested in the US over Jacob Oulanyah’s treatment abroad. 

Oulanyah belonged to the Acholi tribe.

After the former speaker was airlifted to Seattle, Bobi Wine’s NUP supporters protested the huge amount of money spent on the flight. (Read Story Here).

The protests attracted condemnation from Acholi opinion leaders such as Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, later resulting in an apology. (Read Story Here).

Bobi Wine missed Oulanyah’s burial in Omoro on April 08.

NRM MP David Kabanda claimed that Bobi Wine was in Gulu on the day of the burial but feared to attend the send-off ceremony over the protests by his NUP supporters in the US.

But Bobi Wine’s NUP has dismissed Kabanda’s claims. (Read Story Here).

On April 09, Bobi Wine met  Acholi Prime Minister Ambrose Olaa at the Ker Kwaro Acholi where he is said to have apologized on behalf of his NUP supporters.

He also met Francis Mawa, the Prime Minister of the Payira clan, Oulanyah’s clan.

Former presidential candidate Olara Otunu coordinated the meeting between Bobi Wine and Acholi leaders, and reportedly encouraged him to apologize.
