National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has spelt doom for the Muhoozi Kainerugaba 2026 project, saying the opposition plans to remove President Museveni and his son from power before 2026.
The Muhoozi Project debate has resurfaced in the media, with supporters of a proposal to have first son and Commander Land Forces (CLF) Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba succeed his father in 2026 openly expressing their support for the president’s child.
First broached by former spymaster Gen David Tinyefuuza aka Sejusa in 2013, the Muhoozi Project is a plot where Museveni would hand over power to his son.
But the president has severally made it clear Ugandans would choose their leaders as provided for in the laws of the land.
But as pro-Muhoozi project supporters intensify their marketing if the first son’s alleged 2026 presidential project, Bobi believes the plan will fail.
“Every dictator [would want to have their child succeed them]. Museveni is not the first one. That’s what Gaddafi was doing, that’s what Hosni Mubarak was doing in Egypt,” Bobi Wine told Mubende FM.
“Many others have tried to make their children succeed them but they have failed just like Museveni’s plan to make his son succeed him will not work.”
He further threw around the possibility of removing Museveni from office before the next general elections which are less than five years away.
“We want to unseat Museveni as early as possible. We want him out of office as soon we can. NUP is just two years old and I am four years old in politics. We are doing everything we can to unseat him even before 2026,” Bobi Wine said.
