Way forward: Bobi Wine in talks with Venezuela ‘imposter’ president Juan Guaido for ‘public court’ lectures

National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has held discussions with Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido.

Despite support from the US and EU, Guiado failed to unseat Nicolas Maduro.

Elected to head the national assembly at the age of 35 (thanks to the imprisonment of main opposition leaders), Guaido had declared himself interim president despite Maduro and his allies winning majority vote in December 2020 legislative elections.

Bobi Wine, who also lost to incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni in the January 14 poll, held discussions with Guiado.

The Kyadondo East MP said he was “very pleased to speak” with Guaido.

“We discussed the way forward for both countries, and the need to build synergies for the defence of democratic principles and human rights across the globe.”

Bobi Wine recently ordered the withdrawal of his election petition from the Supreme Court.

He said he would take the petition to the public court.

With the backing of the US, Guaido held successful defiance processions in the capital Caracas and other towns.

It is not clear if Bobi Wine sought tips on how to hold successful demonstrations and how to win the backing of the US and other influential world powers.

But he has recently said he would not involve Ugandans in acts of violence to end Museveni’s 35-year rule.
