Bobi Wine Has Betrayed Me: Ailing NUP Diehard Campaigner Stings Principal, Runs to PM Nabbanja

All is not going well between National Unity Platform (NUP) principal Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and one of his staunch supporters named James Mubiru, the Rubaga North III Councillor at LCV level.

Confrontational in character and a ruthless defender of Bobi Wine against real and imagined enemies, including Dr Kizza Besigye, Mubiru spent months in detention for donning a red beret contrary to Section 164(I) of the UPDF Act of 2005, which categorizes the beret as “a monopoly of the armed forces.”

When he was granted bail in August 2021, he complained of some health complications, including in his liver.

He has also shared a report from a diagnosis reportedly done at Aga Khan Hospital.

Mubiru, 31, has since cried out to Ugandans to contribute to his bill, saying his health could soon deteriorate if he doesn’t get urgent health attention.

“Diagnosis found include liver cirrhosis and pancreatitis. It’s a trying moment for me right now because I don’t know what’s next,” he said on his Twitter.

“Doctors have told me if I don’t hurry for medication in America or India or Germany, it will result in Cancer.”

He has also appealed to Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja for help, saying Bobi Wine has ignored him.

“Greetings from the bottom of my heart and let me take this opportunity to thank you for the good work of serving our nation directed towards securing the future of Ugandans,” the Councillor told Nabbanja.

“I hereby request your esteemed office for financial support towards my travel abroad for further medication.”

He added: “I have tried to look for funds from my party leaders including the party president Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, the leader of the opposition, Members of Parliament, Mayors, the diaspora community, etc. but what I can say is that I am disappointed by their slow response yet my situation is worsening.”

For the Aga Khan medical trip, Mubiru needs Shs31m, of which has already secured Shs6m – meaning he needs Shs25m.
