Opposition kingpin Dr Kizza Besigye says he has received a message of encouragement from NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine following attacks from the singer-turned-politician’s supporters against the four-time presidential candidate.
Days ago, Besigye launched the People’s Front for Transition (PFT) Red Card Twetaase, a pressure group aimed at ousting Museveni before the 2026 presidential election.
But a section of the media, in their reports and commentary, argued that without Bobi Wine, the new pressure group would not achieve much.
Some even went ahead to tell off the veteran opposition leader to stop looking for relevance, to retire and leave Bobi Wine to steer the opposition.
But now, Besigye says he had comprehensively discussed with Bobi Wine about PFT days before the pressure group’s launch at Jeema offices in Mengo.
According to Besigye, Bobi Wine has expressed support for the Front and is disappointed with some NUP supporters who have made it a habit to attack the FDC strongman.
“I got a message from Bobi Wine welcoming us from the Front launch (which we’d discussed at length),” said Besigye.
“He also expressed concern at ‘the senseless attacks against you and other comrades mainly on social media.’ Attacking any struggle Front is counterproductive!”
