Security at Entebbe International Airport have arrested National Unity Party (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine as he returned from a trip out of the country.
Bobi Wine was bundled into a security vehicle on arrival at Entebbe Airport.
The vehicle was reportedly driven to Magere, Kasangati in Wakiso District where the NUP principal has a home.
Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga was quoted as saying, “We set out to receive him today, but the panicky regime security could not even allow him into immigration. We follow up for his safety.”
Reports also indicated that journalists were harassed and their equipment shattered into pieces.
NBS Television reported that its reporter Julius Kitone and his photographer Francis Isano were arrested at Impala Toll Gate.
The Mayor of Kasangati Town Council, Tom Muwonge, was among those arrested at Kitubuku Road Block on Entebbe Road.
They were reportedly headed to Entebbe Airport to receive their party leader.
Bobi Wine went abroad after a countrywide tour marred by his ‘controversial talk’ on what some referred to as tribalism. His comments made one motormouthed commentator claim that Bobi Wine was a Murundi and not a Muganda. (See Details Here).
