ANTONY BLINKEN SPEAKS! A day after Uganda’s Parliament passed the Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2023, US Joe Biden’s government has warned President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni and his government against enforcing the new law.
Barely 24 hours since majority of the MPs in Tuesday, March 22 2023 sitting voted to pass the anti-gay bill, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has urged Kampala to reconsider the piece of legislation.
Secretary Blinken said the new Act was an attack on Ugandans’ human rights and that it would also reverse the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Blinken warned against implementation of the new law.
“The Anti-Homosexuality Act passed by the Ugandan Parliament yesterday would undermine fundamental human rights of all Ugandans and could reverse gains in the fight against HIV/AIDS,” he said.
“We urge the Ugandan Government to strongly reconsider the implementation of this legislation.”
