Main opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Patrick Oboi Amuriat (POA) has revealed Dr Kizza Besigye had frankly told him he didn’t have to spoon-feed him but he rather had to go into the struggle and practice what he had learnt from him over the years.
Amuriat is FDC’s second presidential candidate since the party’s inception in 2005.
Besigye stood on the party’s ticket three time, but lost to Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni.
He declined to stand as a candidate in the 2021 presidential election.
Amuriat is now the party flag, and Besigye has on a few occasions joined the FDC flag bearer on his campaigns.
But Amuriat says despite his absence on most of his campaign meetings, Besigye is still part of the FDC team pushing for his victory.
Amuriat also believes Besigye has confidence in him, and doesn’t need to be by him all the time.
“Besigye’s no-show at my rallies doesn’t mean he is not part of this campaign. He tested my resilience and told me, “Go for it, I don’t have to keep holding your hand,” Amuriat told NBS on January 12, just two days to polling day.
