Besigye to Joyce Ssebugwawo: It will end in tears, Museveni will use and dump you

Veteran opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye has warned former FDC vice president Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo her recent appointment as junior (state) ICT and national guidance minister is part of a plot by President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni to crush her political career by using and dumping her.

On Jume 08, President Museveni named Ssebugwawo minister, leaving some FDC leaders in shock.

Others such as deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura say they knew Ssebugwawo and others have been working for Museveni.

Nyanjura: We knew Joyce Ssebugwawo worked for Museveni; We expected more FDC leaders who meet Museveni at night on cabinet list

The FDC has already dismissed Ssebugwawo.

CONFIRMED: Joyce Ssebugwawo dismissed from FDC for accepting appointment as minister in Museveni’s government

A former personal physician to then bush warlord Museveni and later minister in government, Dr Besigye has warned Ssebugwawo it will end in tears.

“We have always had strong leaders who have left right from the beginning, the likes of Alex Onzima, Beti Kamya, the late Butime,” noted Besigye.

“However, currently I can’t tell where they are in terms of politics. People will always go but the struggle continues because this is not a personal struggle.”

In the same cabinet shakeup that saw Ssebugwawo land a ministerial appointment, former DP member Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi and ex-FDC MP Beti Kamya were dropped from cabinet.

Beti Kamya: Museveni dropped me from Cabinet because Abubaker Kawalya of Bobi Wine’s NUP defeated me

The four-time presidential candidate was confident the FDC would overcome its current challeng just like the DP had decades ago when it faced similar woes.

“In the 60s the whole of DP defected to UPC and only three people remained but DP is still moving on. So whoever crosses to others is free and I dont want us to attack them because by the time they were with us they played a certain role in the struggle,” continued Besigye.

“I don’t have any problem with somebody because people get tired and we have also been in this struggle for so long. Over 20 years? We need to know that some people get tired, so we must respect their decision.”
