Opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye has revealed he spent his 65th birthday with his son Anselm.
Anselm, the only son to Besigye and wife Winnie Byanyima, is a student at Harvard University.
Besigye used his birthday to have a conversation with his son on a range of issues, including the ‘liberation struggle’ in Uganda.
In one of the photos Besigye shared online, Anselm is seen flashing the v-sign of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).
“I’ve spent the day with our son Anselm, who’s busy concluding his undergraduate studies,” said Besigye.
“He sends his greetings and love to all friends and comrades in the struggle.”
As a senior citizen, Besigye described his past year as “difficult.”
“At 65 years, I am officially (by all standards) a Senior Citizen!” he observed.
“This has been a particularly difficult year for most people globally; it has been, especially, painful and frustrating for most of my compatriots (Ugandans); and, it’s been, indeed, quite challenging for me.”
The politician also thanked Ugandans for their show of love and best wishes on his birthday.
“I’ve been overwhelmed by the many touching messages, in both my private addresses and on several media platforms. More are still coming in!” he wrote.
“The wonderful messages I’ve received have, for sure, warmed my heart and given me great hope for a better future.”
