Opposition politician Dr Kizza Besigye has denied asking NUP and its leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine to apologize to him publicly over attacks from supporters of the Kamwokya-based party.
Speaking during a People’s Front for Transition (PFT) press conference at the Jeema offices on Monday, Besigye wondered why Bobi Wine was yet to publicly condemn his supporters who have made it a habit to attack him on social media.
But NUP secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya has made it clear there was no need to apologize to Besigye.
“We have been working with Dr Besigye and continue to at any time. I have not personally seen the official statement from him for us to make a public apology but I think there is no need for that because there is no fight between us,” Rubongoya was quoted as saying.
Now, Besigye has said the media and a group of people working to undermine the struggle from within want to make it appear like there is conflict between him and NUP.
“NRM/Museveni Junta’s effort and hope is to foment conflict among those intent on ending the (nearly) 4-decade junta. To achieve this, they employ ;5th Columnists’ in our formations and the media,” said Besigye.
