Besigye: I Didn’t Sign Any Agreement With Bobi Wine; The Media Should Style Up

Opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye has denied signing any cooperation agreement with National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine as reported recently.

Media reports claimed that Besigye of the People’s Front for Transition (PFT), Bobi Wine of NUP, Asuman Basalirwa of Justice Forum (Jeema), and the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) had signed a cooperation agreement at Hotel Africana in Kampala.

That the deal was meant to ensure that the opposition put their efforts together in elections and byelections, with the view of blocking alleged vote rigging by the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), and consequently remove Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s government from power.

But now, Dr Kizza Besigye has denied recently signing a cooperation agreement with Bobi Wine and other opposition leaders.

Besigye accused the media of failing to factually report on the engagement between him and other change-seeking forces.

The four-time presidential candidate clarified that what was issued recently was a joint statement on the electoral malpractices in recent byelections, and not an agreement as reported.

“We have a lot of media misrepresentation. Frankly, you people in the media need to style up and give your audience factual information,” Besigye told NBS Morning Breeze on August 03.

“We made a joint statement on the state of elections and our country. We didn’t sign any agreement.”

Reports of an agreement between Bobi Wine and Besigye came days after Museveni signed a cooperation agreement with Democratic Party (DP) leader Norbert Mao. (Read Full Agreement, Word by Word, HERE).
