President Yoweri Museveni has granted an official burial to his former press secretary Francis Onapito Ekomoloit, the ministry in charge of the presidency. Now, the National Organising Committee (NOC) will handle all the Onapito Ekomoloit official burial.
The president can grant an official burial to a person he deems to have made tremendous contributions to his country. What this means is that the government covers all the expenses for the official funeral.
Onapito was pronounced dead on Friday, September 27, 2024. He previously served as the member of Parliament for Amuria County. He was a former journalist, lecturer and political analyst. By the time of his death, he was the Board Chairman of Nile Breweries Limited.
Presidency Minister Milly Babirye Babalanda has revealed that the NOC will work hand in hand with Parliament of Uganda to ensure that Onapito Ekomoloit gets a befitting burial.
“The President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E Yoweri Museveni has granted the deceased former Member of Parliament for Amuria and Presidential Press Secretary, Hon. Onapito Ekomoloit, an official burial,” Babalanda wrote as she announced the Onapito Ekomoloit official burial on September 29, 2024.
“Accordingly, the National Organising Committee (N.O.C) will liaise with Parliament of Uganda to organise the programme for a befitting send-off. Condolences to the family, the people of Teso and all Ugandans. May Hon. Onapito’s soul rest in eternal peace!”
