President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has appointed former deputy police chief Maj Gen Steven Sabiiti Muzeeyi the General Manager of Luwero Industries.
In December 2020, Museveni fired Maj Gen Muzeeyi as deputy IGP, replacing him with Maj Gen Paul Lokech.
Muzeeyi has since been awaiting deployment.
He has now been sent to Luwero Industries, taking over from Brig Octavius Butuuro, who has led the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) subsidiary since 2017.
Dealing in ammunition and gun assembling, among other things, Luwero Industries contributed immensely to the success of the ‘Kayoola’ solar-powered buses.
Overall, Luwero Industries is involved in manufacture and engineering to support Uganda and beyond. The Facility is located 135km North of Kampala, 15km Northeast of Nakasongola town and 3km from Lake Kyoga with a liaison office at NEC Headquarters, Bugolobi-Kampala.
NEC is the economic arm of the UPDF, Uganda’s national army.
Brig Butuuro, who previously served in the Chieftaincy of the Military Intelligence (CMI), will now serve as the deputy commandant of the Senior Staff College Kimaka.
