Steny Hoyer, another imperialist US congressman, has asked the international community to rein in Uganda’s president Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni following mid-January’s election.
Steny Hoyer, the US house of representatives’ majority leader, says Museveni has continued to use security agencies to stifle opposition voices.
Ahead of Monday’s high court order for security personnel to vacate the home of opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Hoyer claimed “the Ugandan government continues to use state security in a partisan manner to harass and intimidate its citizens, press, and political opposition.”
The representative of Maryland’s Fifth Congressional District further alleged that “Mr. Museveni’s tactics towards those who advocate for an inclusive democracy is dangerous and must be addressed by the global community.”
Security agencies have since ended the siege around Bobi Wine’s Magere home.
It is not clear whether the court order was informed by pressure from the international community but the Museveni administration has severally told off the US to mind her business, clean her house and stop its imperialist and neo-colonial tendencies.
