In her second excuse in two days, embattled Speaker Anita Among has sought to blame yet another person – a former speaker of Parliament – for the allegations of corruption and abuse of office in Parliament.
Speaking in Bukedea, the district which she represents as the District Woman MP, Speaker Anita Among claimed that the ongoing online exhibition that has exposed supposed rot – allegations of corruption, diversion of funds and nepotism at Parliament – was engineered by those seeking a comeback to the office of Speaker of Parliament.
Speaker Anita Among assured those seeking to return to the office of Speaker through demanding accountability for billions of tax payers’ money that they cannot win the fight.
She told the politician seeking a comeback to the office of speaker of Parliament to wait for shame. She even attempted to put ‘by the Grace of God’ in her vow to put to shame her enemies.
“There are people who are saying that they want to reclaim their seat as Speaker of Parliament. What did they leave there?” Speaker Anita Among asked.
“What haven’t we done? You mean in Teso we don’t need a speaker [of Parliament]? In Bukedea we don’t need a speaker? Maybe I am a better asset than them. And I want to you ‘we are still there. Those who think they are going to continue fighting us will be put to shame.”
Speaker Anita Among did not name which former speaker was seeking a comeback to replace her but it should be remembered that replaced Jacob Oulanyah who died in 2022, leaving many questions on the cause of his death behind. (See Details Here, There and Over There).
Oulanyah had defeated Rebecca Kadaga, the long-serving Kamuli District Woman MP who currently serves as deputy prime minister and Minister of East African Affairs.

This is the second excuse Speaker Anita Among is giving as she attempts to respond – or ignore – the exhibition on the alleged rot in the finances and administration of Uganda’s Parliament. On Friday, Anita Among blamed ‘bum-shafters’ for demanding that she responds to allegations of misuse of taxpayers’ money. (See Details Here).
