Famous journalist Andrew Mwenda has lost his nephew Kenneth Andrew Kahangwe in a boda boda accident in the western Uganda city of Fort Portal.
Kahangwe died hours after the accident that happened Sunday, March 28.
“It is with great shock and sadness that I announce the death of our nephew, Kenneth Andrew Kahangwe. Kenneth died 30 minutes ago, a few minutes after being knocked down by a boda boda in Maguru, Fort Portal City,” wrote Mwenda.
“Burial will take place on Wednesday March 31st in Fort Portal!”
Mwenda’s sister Margaret Muhanga, the Burahya County MP, revealed the difficulties of raising Kahangwe months before President Yoweri Museveni’s NRA took power.
“Kenneth was our late sister’s son. When Flo had him on 23rd April 1985, all schools in Fort Portal had closed due to NRA occupation,” recalled Muhanga.
“I took on the task of tending to this baby until schools re-opened in 1986. He brought me close to motherhood and it helped me when I got my own 10 years later. RIP.”
