AMAMA MBABAZI SICKNESS: Here’s What We Know

The health condition of former Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi recently came under the spotlight after a tabloid claimed that the ex-former  super minister had suffered a stroke. 

Reports seemed to suggest that Mbabazi was in critical condition and was receiving specialized treatment, with doctors doing everything possible to try and save his life.

But the powerful former PM who currently does diplomatic work for Kampala and President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, has come out to clear the air on his reported stroke.

Mbabazi confirmed that he had indeed been sick but differed with the tabloid on the disease he was battling, and that he was out of danger.

Mbabazi went on to reve that he had been engaged diplomacy recently and that his back ailment was not as life-threatening as had been reported.

His alleged stroke illness had attracted lots of phone calls and messages wishing him quick recovery.

“To all those that have sent me get well soon messages, I thank you for your encouragement, sympathy and love. It is not true that I got a stroke,” said Mbabazi.

“I had a back ailment which was fixed and I have actually in the last week or so been involved in fairly heavy diplomatic work.”

Popular lawyer Hussein Kashillingi has shared a photo with Mbabazi in the UK. Counsel Kashillingi said Mbabazi was engaged in meetings and that his health had been restored.

“It was a pleasure meeting with the Rt. Hon. AmamaMbabazi at his hotel here in London. As you can see, he is upbeat and already having meetings. We thank God for restoring his health,” he said.

Mbabazi noted that he had  “covered a long way on my journey to full recovery.”

It should be remembered that Amama Mbabazi had been rumored to be the man Museveni had chosen to be the Bank of Uganda governor. State House would later clear the air on these rumors. (See Details Here).

Mbabazi’s sickness reports come at a when Museveni is battling Covid19, with an acting president doing most of his work, and rumors that he has been admitted in ICU. Test results for First Lady Janet Museveni have also been released. (Read Stories Here and There).
