AGAIN! Unknown Assailants Attack Magere Security Officer, Grab His Gun

A group of unknown assailants has attacked a security guard, severely injured him and grabbed his gun, further raising panic among Ugandans in the wake of recent raids on security stations across the country.

The latest attack happened in Magere Cell in Kasangati, Wakiso District in the evening of Monday, November 21, 2022. Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) Deputy Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Luke Owoyesigyire said the incident happened at around 7:30 PM.

The attacked guard was from GKO Security Company. He was going to his work station when he was attacked. He has since been admitted at the Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala.

“The Police at Kasangati are investigating the theft of a firearm from a security guard belonging to GKO Security Company. The guard was attacked while heading to his beat and cut by unidentified assailants at about 7:30 PM and his gun taken,” said Owoyesigyire.

“Our team responded and took him to Mulago hospital for treatment while the search for the gun has commenced.”

This attack happened just a few days after unknown assailants raided a UPDF barracks, killed one soldier and took away his gun as his colleague had gone to buy some drinks. Before then, there was an attack at a Kyanja Police Post (See Details Here and There).

The most pronounced of these attacks was the one at the Busiika Police Station where two police officers were killed and their guns stolen. After this attack, Police’s administration announced new changes, including closure of police posts and withdrawal of police officers. (See Details Here and There).

It should be remembered that CMI operatives arrested about 10 members of the family of former minister and NRA bush war hero Hajj Abdul Naddul over the Busiika attack but security agencies were later shocked to learn that they had relied on fake intelligence reports from a Nadduli family member. (See Details Here and There).

Days after the Nadduli arrests, a senior UPDF officer led an attack at the farm of Maj (Rtd) Kakooza Mutale over reports that he (Kakooza Mutale) was training rebels on his farm. It was not until Kakooza Mutale made a telephone call to some powerful person ‘above’ that the military official and his team left his farm. (See Details Here).

During his recent visit to Luweero, Deputy Police Spokesperson Maj Gen Geoffrey Katsigazi Tumusiime said that they know the criminals behind the Busiika attack and that they should surrender or they will be killed. (Read Story Here).
