Speaker of Parliament Jacob Lokori Oulanyah is reportedly sick, unconfirmed reports have claimed.
Oulanyah, also the Omoro County MP, has not been seen in public for some weeks now.
He is said to have fallen sick about a week ago but has reportedly been treated and is steadily recovering.
Reports indicate that Oulanyah was treated at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala but has reportedly been discharged.
There are also claims that the speaker’s health issue was discussed in a cabinet meeting.
That President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni himself expressed concern and ordered that the head of the legislative arm of government be flown out of the country for better and specialized treatment.
It was also not clear what was troubling the speaker but he was reportedly dehydrated and that he had trouble taking food and drinks.
Parliament was yet to issue an official statement on the health of the speaker, and it remained to be seen if the institution would respond to reports of Oulanyah’s alleged sickness.
This is not the first time Oulanyah’s health condition is becoming a subject of debate.
Last year, he reportedly flew to the UK for treatment. (Read story here).
