AGAIN! School calendar changes expected as education ministry tells school bosses to await Museveni’s Address

Changes are expected in the 2021 school calendar after education ministry permanent secretary Alex Kakooza issued a statement to school heads halting reopening for some classes and holiday breaks for others.

Primary One to Three, and the semi-candidate classes of Primary Six, Senior Three and Senior Five were expected to report to school on June 07.

But now, a statement by permanent secretary Kakooza noted the implementation of the revised calendar would depend on the president’s decision.

Cases of Covid19 have been rising in recent weeks, with students in some schools infected by the deadly respiratory virus.

Some schools, even before Museveni’s Sunday’s big announcement, have sent students home after registering cases.

For example, Kyambogo University has closed its gates for physical lectures while Makerere University Business School (Mubs) has postponed end of semester examinations.
