National Unity Platform(NUP) has fired its firebrand Eastern Uganda Coordinator Moses Bigirwa and summarily named former Kigulu North MP Andrew Kaluuya in his place.
In a Monday afternoon meeting chaired by party Electoral Commission Chairperson, Mercy Walukamba in Jinja, it was unanimously agreed that the outspoken politician’s continued association with the NUP leadership was more detrimental than beneficial hence electing to throw him out instantly.
Reports further indicate that th3 famous NUP General has ultimately been demoted to private and hence dismissed from office as coordinator and immediately replaced with Hon Andrew kaluya of iganga as the new eastern regional coordinator and mobilizer.
Acting on the orders of Party President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, the meeting that determined Bigirwa’s fate was, among others, attended by Iganga Mayor, Bamu Lulenzi, Manjeri Kyebakutikka, the Woman MP Jinja, Saulo Nsongambi, Pastor Andrew Muwanguzi, Jamal Mukuve Ayagalaki of Bugiri, Muyonjo Hussein alias Swengere, Waiswa Alex Mufumbiro, Chairman Nyanzi Fred Ssentamu and many others.
The controversial NUP man has been accused of a number of scandals that have thrown the party in disrepute, invluding his recent implication in the scandal to turnish the name of the Kyabazinga in the ongoing woes with his alleged UK based side partner.
One well placed party member who attended the meeting confirmed to this website that indeed
Bigirwa has been reprimanded and a statement will soon be issued by the secretariat to substantiate the development.
The development marks an end to Bigirwa’s largely scandal laden tenure at the top leadership of the Makerere Kavule based party.
Ealy this year, Bigirwa, along with five other leaders from Busoga were suspended from the party leadership in what what was reported to be an attempt to clamp down on internal discipline according to a statement by Party Secretary General, Lewis Rubongoya. A probe established by President Kyagulanyi exonerated the quadruple after cautioning them.
Bigirwa was also taped in a plot to scam the Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among whom it was alleged, he tried to defraud of Uganda Shillings 100 million. He was arrested at the gate of the Politician and sent to Kitalya Prison where he spent over a month. (See Details Here and There).
