President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s Office of the National Chairman (ONC) of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has dismissed reports that second deputy prime minister Kirunda Kivejinja is dead.
Social media reports claimed Kivejinja had passed on December 10.
But Museveni’s office based at Kyambogo says Kivejinja is still alive.
“Please note that bad-hearted people are yet again circulating false news about the state of health of 2nd Deputy Prime Minister, Al Hajji Kirunda Kivejinja,” the statement, titled ‘Kindly, Ignore Persistent Rumours On Rt. Hon. Kirunda Kivejinja,’ read in part
“The senior citizen is alive and well, and on his way to recovery, thanks to Allah the Almighty.”
The office also asked “those circulating absurd information” to “repent and respect the privacy of Al Hajji Kivejinja.”
But ONC asked “people of goodwill” to “keep him in their prayers.”
This is not the first time Kivejinja, who has been sick for about two weeks, is being announced dead on social media.
