Makerere University management has announced postponement of its 71st graduation ceremony from March to May 2021 over delays in procurement of gowns.
The university Senate recently resolved to extend graduation start date from March 18 to May 07.
The University Ceremonies Committee had asked for more time to organize the graduation ceremony.
According to deputy vice chancellor for academic affairs Dr Umar Kakumba, the Ceremonies Committee had particularly complained of delays in procurement of gowns.
The delays in gown procurement are similar to those that happened during the 2019 graduation.
Other challenges that necessitated the extension included complaints of incomplete research reports, and missing marks.
