AGAIN! Bobi Wine sleeps in car on roadside after police held him for hours near swamp; reporters beaten

National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine spent a night in a car on the roadside after hours of being blocked by police near Ngeta Swamp along Lira-Kitgum Road.

Bobi Wine had planned to travel to Alebtong District December 11 night but police blocked him.

His car would be towed, only to be untethered at about 02:30am about 80 kilometers outside Kitgum Town.

He then made efforts to head to Kitgum and find accommodation but was unsuccessful.

He and his team members opted to sleep in the cars.

Reporters attached to him also endured coldness, some sleeping on the ground.

This is not the first time Bobi Wine failed to find accommodation.

At the end of last month, Bobi Wine claimed police had blocked him from accessing hotels in Hoima.

He slept in his car.

REPORTERS ASSAULTED

Meanwhile, at least four reporters were assaulted while covering the night incident.

They are: Batte Ssesanga of BBS TV, John Cliffe Wamala of NTV Uganda, Moses Waisswa of Busoga one FM and David Tamale of Bukedde TV.

The Bobi Wine campaign also accused police of arresting scores of its team members.

At about 8am December 12, Bobi Wine told his supporters “we spent the night on dusty roadside in the middle of nowhere.”

He will campaign in Lamwo, Kitgum and Karenga.
