A top leader of main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party in Kasese District has reportedly been ‘kidnapped’ and has been missing for days now.
The missing NUP leader has been identified as Samuel Masereka, the party’s registrar for Kasese District.
According to NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, suspected security operatives picked Masereka from Kasese on January 07.
Since then, any attempts by local NUP leaders to trace the registrar have been futile.
Bobi Wine and his party leaders suspect that Masereka could be detained at Mbuya in Kampala.
“Samuel Masereka, NUP Registrar, Kasese District was picked up from Kasese in a drone Friday last week,” said the singer-turned-politician.
“Over a week, his whereabouts unknown. Not produced in any court. Suspected to be detained in a torture house in Mbuya.”
Ugandan opposition political parties have over the years complained of the abduction of their supporters.
