ADVISED TO REPEAT SENIOR FOUR: Over 15,700 Candidates Fail 2022 UCE Exams

A little over 15,700 candidates have failed the 2022 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams, results released by the Uganda National Examination Board (Uneb) have indicated.

Uneb registered a reduction in the number of candidates who failed the 2022 UCE exams compared to those who failed the 2020 end of O-level exams. While 18,415 candidates (of the 329,648 candidates who sat in 2021) or 5.6 per cent failed the 2020 UCE examinations, this number reduced by one per cent point to 4.6 per cent in 2022.

The number of candidates who failed fell by 2,659 to 15,756 (out of 345,695 candidates who sat in 2022). These candidates who failed scored what Uneb calls Grade Nine (Division 09) and are not eligible to proceed to the next level of their formal schooling.

Uneb and Education Ministry have advised these candidates to repeat Senior Four so that they can score the grade needed for them to proceed.

It should be remembered that the number of candidates who failed their 2022 PLE is higher than those who failed UCE. (Read Stories Here and There).
