DENIS ONYANGO, RETIRED WITH POMP! CAN MUSEVENI DO THAT?
Onyango, thank you for being a great patriot to our beloved country Uganda.
You made your contribution to the country’s growth of football and you left sweet memories.
Like the Luo say: “leave the beer party when it is still flowing.”
You did exactly that! You chose not to drink to empty the beer pot.
Indeed, you have retired at a time when it was least expected!
Not even the wild spirit of MUSEVENISM or Mugabeism, could hold you back. Bravo!
At first I thought I was one of the few football lovers who dearly admired your massive contributions for Uganda Cranes, as a player and as a captain.
BUT, today I have realized that you are not only my Uganda football icon but you are indeed an icon to all Ugandans especially those who watched you command energy into your team mates whenever you were representing Uganda.
Just know, your footprints shall forever be remembered in the history of Uganda’s football because of your devotion, enthusiasm and above all as a great Uganda Cranes captain of all time.
Omera (my brother) Onyango, here is my only request to you: Can you use the same courage you took to retire to also ask Tata Muhoozi (Museveni) to retire?
Yes, at least let him emulate your legacy if he cannot take lesson from the Sweet memories and love that Africans showed upon the late John Pombe Magufuli.
I salute you!
Oneka Lit Denis Amere is the Kitgum Municipality MP-elect
