President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has agreed to take the AstraZeneca Covid19 vaccine jab, Uganda’s health ministry has revealed.
Uganda started Covid19 vaccination two weeks ago.
But while many expected Museveni and Janet to lead the way, they were no show.
Instead, health minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng presided over the vaccination launch, being the first to take the jab.
Museveni later explained why he and first lady Janet Museveni were yet to get vaccinated.
Now, ministry of health spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyoona has quoted ministry permanent ministry Dr Diana Atwine as saying Museveni would take the jab on Saturday, March 27.
“Dr Diana Atwine says the President will take his COVID-19 Vaccination jab tomorrow,” wrote Ainebyoona on Friday.
Ainebyoona and Atwine were part of an engagement with spokespersons of MDAs and communication practitioners on how they can support our response towards the Covid19 pandemic.
Museveni will become the second member of the first family to be vaccinated against Covid19.
