National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has asked all Ugandans to keep Kawempe North MP Muhammed Ssegirinya in their prayers after the first-time legislator’s health deteriorated a few weeks ago.
Ssegirinya has been in and out of hospital in recent months since he left prison where he, and his Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana, spent nearly two years over links to killings in Masaka.
The Kawempe North lawmaker recently showed up for the launch of NUP headquarters at Makerere Kavule looking frail and slim.
Now, Bobi Wine has asked Ugandans to send Ssegirinya prayers.
“Wishing our brother Hon. Ssegirinya Muhammad a quick and full recovery. When he came in to see me at office a few weeks back, I could see he had lost a lot of weight. He told me that his health has been deteriorating from the time he came out of prison, where he spent close to two years,” said Bobi Wine.
“As the medical team does its best to give him the needed care, let us also continue to pray for him.”
Bobi Wine’s statement came shortly after Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among visited Ssegirinya at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala to deliver her wishes for a speedy recovery to the honorable colleague.
“I am delighted to announce that Ssegirinya has made a remarkable recovery. His strength and determination throughout this challenging period has been truly commendable,” she said after the visit.
“I extend my sincere gratitude to the medical team, and to everyone who has supported him during this time. We look forward to receiving him back to serve his community with renewed energy.”
It should be remembered that Ssegirinya’s health worsened a few months ago, prompting his family to fly him abroad. (See Details Here and There).
