Results from tests conducted on samples from Ugandan First Lady Janet Kataaha Kainembabazi Museveni have been released.
Janet Museveni, who is also her country’s Minister of Education and Sports, took the tests after her husband, Uganda’s elderly and long serving president Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, tested positive for the deadly Covid19 disease.
Museveni had delivered his State of the Nation Address at the Kololo Independence Grounds in the middle of the week before his Covid19 positive status was confirmed.
His earlier tests were confusing, and therefore not confirmatory. After the status was confirmed by tests conducted by his team of doctors, Museveni went in sick leave.
He has since delegated his duties, appointing an ‘acting president’ to run the country while he is on sick leave. (See Details Here).
Meanwhile, members of the first family who recently interacted with the president have had to undergo Covid19 tests to ascertain their status.
One of these was First Lady Janet Museveni who normally travels to functions with her husband, the president of Uganda.
The first couple sometimes share the same vehicle when attending national events.
They also share a number of rooms in their residences, especially at State House Entebbe and Nakasero as well as at state lodges across the country.
The results from Janet Museveni’s tests are now out. Her husband Museveni has revealed that the first lady tested negative for Covid19.
The couple will keep some distance between them until the president has been declared negative.
“Maama Janet was tested on the 7th evening and all the tests were negative (rapid, PCR, etc.),” wrote Museveni.
“We thank God for that. We have, therefore, been using different parts of the house ever since.”
It should be remembered that confusing Covid19 test results had forced Museveni to order that Janet should travel in a separate car. (See Details Here).
