Former Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) spokesperson and Kayunga Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Hajji Nsereko Mutumba has passed on.
Nsereko Mutumba is said to have died in the wee hours of Wednesday, August 03, 2022.
He was reportedly rushed to Rubaga Hospital in Kampala where he breathed his last hours ago. Reports also indicate that Nsereko Mutumba had been found motionless in his bed before attempts were made to rush him to hospital.
The cause of his death is yet to be revealed. The burial program was yet to be officially issued but being a Muslim, Mutumba was likely to be laid to rest today, in line with Islamic principles.
Deputy presidential press secretary Faruk Kirunda described Nsereko Mutumba’s death as “a big blow,” adding that the demise of this “respected opinion leader” was going to be “deeply felt.”
“The death of Hajji Nsereko Mutumba, the RDC Kayunga, is a big blow. A respected opinion leader, he worked for peace, unity, and development among Ugandans. His absence will be deeply felt. Inalillahi wainailaihi rajiun,” mourned Kirunda.
Nsereko Mutumba served as the spokesperson of UMSC for many years. Just months ago President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni appointed him the Kayunga District RDC, a job he had gladly taken up and had begun executing. (See Full List of RDCs among whom was Nsereko Mutumba HERE).
