A section of Ugandans online have likened President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni to Marie Antoinette after the 77-year-old leader told Ugandans to eat cassava if they cannot afford or access bread.
Museveni made the state in his Labour Day Speech on May 01. (Read Story Here).
The statement was almost similar to what Marie Antoinette, wife to King Louis XVI, who told starving peasant to eat cake if they cannot afford bread.
Now, some Ugandans have been comparing Museveni to Marie Antoinette, the last Queen of France before the French Revolution.
Some even told Museveni that just like Marie Antoinette’s statement came near the end of Louis XVI’s monarchy, the cassava-bread piece of advice could harbinger the downfall of almost four-decade NRM rule.
Here are some of the comments captured from Twitter:
Museveni is reaching his downfall like the ancient regime in France before 1789 queen Marie Antoinette told the angry mob if bread was expensive they should try cakes, now Museveni is making things worse by telling people to try cassava🙄🙄🙄🙄 pic.twitter.com/abMl49Ac7s

The History I read
Marie Antoinette the last queen of France before the French Revolution quoted saying;
"If you can't have Bread, then eat cake"
She was finally guillotined 🙌 pic.twitter.com/Fbbejvbhcu— Nze_Dennis 🇺🇬 (@denni1_dennis) May 2, 2022

Okey the difference with Marie Antoinette’s statement was she was arrogant and sarcastic, her option was a bit expensive and unrealistic compared to the president’s submission of bread to Cassava.
